So, I want to get real with you all for a moment
I don’t just eat whatever I want, whenever I want.
Take this for example: We've all heard the advice, "Carpe …Diem Eat the damn ice cream sundae!"
But you know what? I don't fully agree with that, and here's why:
Picture this: A night out with friends, and there's a yummy ice cream sundae with brownies on the menu. It looks amazing, all gooey and chocolatey, but for me, eating that way wouldn’t feel like true food freedom. Why, you ask?
If I indulged in that sundae, I'd end up feeling bloated, my bladder would be on fire(it doesn’t like dairy), and I would crash hard from the gluten. It would just steal away the joy of my time with friends and leave me feeling “icky.”
Because of my food allergies, That doesn't sound like freedom to me! Instead, I might choose dairy-free ice cream and a gluten free cookie. That way, I'd feel good, have fun, and really enjoy my evening.
But let me tell you where I used to mess up: I'd order some dumb fruit bowl while everyone else enjoyed their sundaes, skip the treats, not have any fun, and be so envious and angry at myself. Then I'd come home and shove a bunch of chocolate in and not be able l to sleep all night from the caffeine . Sound familiar?!
The biggest change from then to now is that I make my food, drink, and exercise decisions from a place of SELF LOVE, instead of making food choices and exercise self-punishment.
You have the power to do all this too!
Freedom with food doesn't mean being reckless. It means having the freedom to set boundaries without being triggered by them. It means indulging without guilt, listening to my body, and not allowing shame to take over.
Now, I cherish feeling confident, healthy, and alive, and like it or not, food plays a big part in that! However, what works for me might be different for you. You may adore okra, it makes me sick just looking at it. You may hate my quinoa bread I make ALL the time. Freedom with Food is not a One Size fits all approach.
